I loved the pic of the hummingbird.
Today one neighbor was walking his dog later than usual; I asked why. Because on earlier walks, they've run into 2 coyotes and a skunk in the past week. We live near a riverbed. I don't think I've ever seen a skunk in my yard but have seen a couple of coyotes in the past ten years. We live 13 mi S.E. of downtown Los Angeles. I still find it amazing. I guess there is less uncultivated land for them as the population grows.
To be fair, this is the first time I’ve seen one of these bee killer robber flies, so I’m sure how much of a problem they really are for the bees.
The skunk also wasn’t really an issue. It ran off as soon as it heard/saw me coming. To be honest, I wish it would have stayed for at least a few more minutes.

I personally have a fondness for possums. I would never feed them, but if they want to live in my yard and eat insects, that's fine by me.
